Jeff and Tiffany,
I’m so excited to tell you I have reached my goal! No need to panic I am not giving up Boot Camp, you can’t get rid of me that easy, I’m addicted.
In November 2007 my cholesterol was over 200, nothing to panic about but it did need to be acknowledged. In 2008 I tried to handle lowering it on my own. I rode my bike to work for 6 months, walked, swam laps and added oatmeal for breakfast everyday. When tested again in November 2008 my cholesterol went up, disappointing to say the least.
My doctor was considering putting me on medication should my cholesterol keep going up. Obliviously my plan of attack wasn’t working. So I went to plan B……Boot Camp.
I had been eyeing boot camp on the internet for awhile, not thinking I really could afford it. I realized now when it comes to health money becomes somewhat irrelevant.
When I joined North Adventure Boot Camp in February 2009, I never imagined the results I’ve achieved. I honestly didn’t join to lose 30 lbs, but to work my core and tone up. I didn’t think I was fat until I saw my photos in April 2009 that you took.
I am so proud to say in September 2009 my cholesterol came back at 133 a very healthy range. In 7 month I have dropped my cholesterol 80 points, gone from a size 10-12 to a size 4, and feel better than I have in 20 years.
I am honored to be a part of your Adventure Boot Camp and I am telling my story so other campers realize they can do it too. It didn’t happen overnight and by any means come easy, I have had to work my butt off literally. It takes dedication, time and lots of energy.
I actually have one more goal and that is to climb Half Dome in 2011 for my 50th birthday. Thanks for continually helping me reach my goals. Everybody has their own story, for me it’s been a very personal and fulfilling journey.
Thanks for all you and your team have done and keep continuing to do, day in and day out. Words can not express my gratitude enough. Our health is nothing to mess around with or take for granted.
Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of each squat I do proudly!

Gretchen McCann
Napa 6pm
There are many reasons to choose Gretchen, let me count the ways.... 1.) Gretchen has been with boot camp since day one, literally, she joined the first camp we had in February 2006 and has been going strong ever since. 2.) Gretchen always works her hardest in camp, she doesn't hold anything back. 3.) Gretchen realizes that this is a long term relationship... the one between her and her fitness. It doesn't get better if you stop, so she keeps going! 4.) Not only did Jeff and I think Gretchen deserved camper of the week but many of her fellow campers felt this way as well.... in fact when I asked everyone to tell us who inspired them enough to be camper of the week the only response we got for Napa was Gretchen!!!! So it is time to step our game people, to inspire ourselves and others, like Gretchen has. We are so proud to have her in camp!
Here is a little more about Gretchen and her boot camp experience:
" I have lived in Napa for 20 years and really appreciate the natural beauty here – specifically during these great spring days. I am a licensed landscape architect, and principal of GSM landscape architects in downtown Napa. We specialize in the design of public spaces, parks and redevelopment projects – we designed the Silverado track and field. It is really rewarding to see all the boot campers and community out there using it on a daily basis! I am married to fellow boot camper, Jim, and we have 2 children, Warren, 18, and away at UC Santa Cruz, and Leah, 15, and an awesome long distance runner and soccer player – go Napa High! We also have 1 dog, 2 cats and numerous chickens. I don’t have much spare time, but when I do, I love to spend time with family and friends, attend my daughter’s numerous soccer games, read books, hike, back pack, garden, and study surrealist art forms. I am involved in several “green” organizations and working toward making our environment more sustainable.
I love Boot Camp! I am an official junkie. Boot camp has helped me to be physically stronger, and emotionally better balanced, even when I thought it might be too difficult to get out of a middle age slump (or should I say pre middle age…..). When I first started, I think I could do about 5 girl push ups, and now I can do 50+ boy push ups without stopping, not to mention that I am faster, more agile and love to run.
This came as such a surprise to me! I look forward to the challenge of each class. I love working hard and pushing myself to do more and improve my training. I also love seeing other people challenge themselves and work hard – this inspires me to keep going. I am grateful for Tiffany’s ability to keep BC going, and Jeff and Carlos’ mentorship, positive spirit and drive, not to mention the great salsa music. I cherish the great friends I have made at boot camp and our common goal of being healthy while having fun. "

Susie Gallo (photo with Sonoma Trainer Jayme)
Sonoma 9 am
Susie has been a very hard working, dedicated camper for many, many camps and she was not only chose by Jeff and I but also nominated by her fellow campers for being an inspiring example of strength and persistence!
Here is what Susie had to say:
"I started boot camp a little over a year ago. I played sports in my younger years, and have remained active through my adult life. After having a couple of kids though, my body started to show its age. I began experiencing trouble with sciatica, and would frequently wake up unable to turn my head without excruciating pain. After a year of dumbell bent over rows (among other delightful exercises!) and a close relationship with my foam roller, I am stronger than i was in my 20's.
I am 41 now, and in better shape than I have ever been, and most importantly, pain free. I can't thank Jayme enough, and all the lovely ladies in the 9am Sonoma class! Without the great support I found in boot camp, I never would have completed my first half marathon in Boston last October. My team raised over $100,000 to support diabetes research. It was a terrific accomplishment, but i didn't do it alone! Boot camp has been a great way to both connect with other people who share the same fitness goals that I have, and a fantastic way to challenge myself to a degree I have not felt since playing on my college lacrosse team. Thank you boot camp!"
"My son Aaren got engaged this last May. I started Boot Camp in October 2008 because I decided I did not want to be the “Fat Mother of the Groom”. I was (and am) determined to lose 2 to 3 dress sizes by April 2009.
There is now 38 days left before the wedding. I have lost two dress sizes, I can actually see my waist again, I have LOST inches all over! Even my fingers are skinnier! My goal is within reach. One more dress size to go.

Dixie Before Dixie NOW (wow)
How did I do it? Here is the amazing story of two people that have taken an old idea and made it fresh and fun. Jeff and Tiffany Larson are the reason I have made it this far and have no doubt that I will reach and attain my goal and beyond. They help you focus on your goals, teach proper technique and form, constantly check on you and see how things are going, “tweak” things here and there. And, they are both very big on nutrition. That is my worst subject! But, by listening and taking to heart their great advice…. It WORKS!!! The combination of great exercise and good eating habits has made a HUGE difference in my weight loss goals! Go figure…
Jeff is really a great coach. He never makes you feel you are doing things “wrong”. He never yells. He comes along side of you and lets you know if you need to flatten your back or straighten your posture to have proper form. Then he tells you, “great job”. You never feel stupid.
Working outdoors is a real plus for me and I have noticed my backside is lifted and tighter. My arms are stronger, I have more endurance, my emotional and mental attitude is better, I am less stressed at work and I am all around stronger than I have ever been. I look forward to each workout, and try to work harder each time. I have not missed one camp since October because just like everyone else, Boot Camp “rocks” and so do my fellow Boot campers that help keep me encouraged!
So, if you are getting married soon, or your son or daughter is getting married soon, or your best friend is getting married soon and you are a bridesmaid or groomsman, and you want to look great in all those wedding pictures that last forever…. Napa Bridal Boot Camp is the place for you. It is guaranteed!" - Dixie F. (Napa)

Lisa Wicker
St. Helena
Here is what Lisa had to say:
"A friend introduced me to boot camp. I had never heard of it, and didn't have any idea what to expect. She quit after her first day, her loss my gain.
Boot camp has improved my life in so many different ways. My blood pressure is down, my bone density is now stable and not declining, my core is strong and therefore my lower back is more stable and giving me less problems. My overall health is just better. I am so much more comfortable in my clothes, and my skin. Also the friendships and laughter as well as the workouts are what get me to boot camp in the morning.
Boot camp has given me confidence in ME.
I traveled by myself to Alaska to fly fish for silver salmon last September. I had only met the guide, and never traveled that far by myself. Also the hike I took a few weeks ago with Elaine would never have been possible without the fitness I have gained through boot camp. Just my insteps were sore! In January, Ron and I celebrated our tenth anniversary. I was able to wear my wedding dress! These are only a few examples in my life of what I have gained because of my success in boot camp.
Thank you for your commitment to helping me improve me."

Alison Pimentel
Sonoma 5:30 am
I joined bootcamp almost two years ago now. I was intrigued with the description of the class in our local paper. I had never been a gym person, as I have always been a hiker/backpacker/camper and hate to exercise indoors. I liked the idea that it was held outside, and did not involve machines which always made me feel clumsy. I had just turned 45 and felt that I needed to work on areas of my body that weren't improving with my walking and hiking routine. I can't say I was hooked right away, because getting up at 5am was really hard. But I kept forcing myself to keep going and as soon as I saw results I was hooked. I also really enjoyed the women I met in class, they were so normal , non-judgemental and fun. When I met and trained with Jeff, Tiffany, Jamie and Stacey I was so impressed with their dedication to my well being. I have never before felt this kind of support. I am extremely grateful that you are all in my life helping me to be a stronger and healthier person.
Overall the results of bootcamp have been amazing. I have tone and definition in my arms, stomach, and legs that has never been there before. I feel so much stronger and healthier and invincible! I have gone down one clothing size from exercising alone. I am looking forward to seeing results as I work on my fat loss goals, and make better choices about the food I eat. Next weekend I am training to be a ropes course instructor. I am deathly afraid of heights, but I feel like I am up for the mental challenge of facing my fears because I am a stronger and more confident person due to my involvement in bootcamp."

Elisa Acosta
Napa 5:30 am
Here is what Elisa had to say about her boot camp experience:
"I prefer a little mystery, so if you want details you know where I will be MWF. There are several things I can’t live without. I can’t get through the week without reading a book, listening to music, cooking with/for my friends, or going to boot camp. I’m addicted to boot camp like some people are addicted to chocolate. I keep coming back for more.
I started boot camp last year around the end of March. A friend/coworker would start sharing her boot camp stories with me in the morning. The situations she got in seemed highly unlikely, for instance: she told me the first time she ran the loop at Skyline’s 5:30am class, she got lost. The next time she came in she described the sandbag circuits, and the different interval circuits that Jeff incorporated in the morning workouts. I started to get very curious.
I also wanted to do everything I could to help my training for a half- marathon that I was going to be running in a May. With just one month of boot camp under my belt, I was stronger, faster and had more stamina. When I completed my half-marathon, I had Boot camp to thank for helping me shave 10 minutes off of my running time. I was also grateful to Jeff for loaning me one of his trigger point therapy tools for the calf cramps I was having. ( this was before I was a foam roller convert)
After that race, I felt compelled to continue with boot camp, just to see what I was capable of doing. The physical changes in me are important, but they are almost secondary to the mental and emotional changes. I am working on being my best, and I know that boot camp keeps me honest and focused on that. I love Jeff and Tiffany’s team work when it comes to the mind/body/spirit connection. I have emailed Tiffany a gazillion times to gush about her blogs, or to thank her for bringing to attention what else you may have been ignoring in your life besides your workouts.
There have been times in my life where my weight had been a way to keep me disconnected from everything that I wanted to do. My weight was out of control, my life was out of control, and my fear of failing kept me from trying to figure out how to make it better. Things gradually started to change when I started walking 4 years ago. Eventually, I moved up to jogging, and then running. When I started boot camp last year, I felt confident that I would be able to handle it, no problem. Oh, how naïve I was! I didn’t know that there were body parts that could be sore like that, I swear my eyelashes hurt too! But as I have been challenged, my life has transformed, things come together more easily. I take credit for the hard work I do, but I also give credit to those who are gracious enough to help lead the way.
Boot camp is a continuous life lesson. You take what you need and leave the rest. "

Elaine Sczuka
St. Helena
Taksang Monastery in Bhutan, which I hiked to last year---from 6,000 to 11,000 feet!
Here is what Elaine had to say:
"This coming April will make two years of attending boot camp in St. Helena. A friend (Janice Mondavi) had read about it in our local paper, and suggested we give it a go--she thought, and told me, that the 5-day camp was for one week....the 6 am start time seemed a bit daunting, but, we said, "well, we can do anything for a week!!! And here it is, 2 years later....
I have never been in better overall physical condition and I feel certain that camp has helped TREMENDOUSLY with age/change of life. I look forward to camp, wish it were daily, and try to work in some other type of activity, usually a hike, on days "off". I was honored to represent the Napa Adventure Boot camp team last year for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, felt like a million bucks through the whole 39 mile walk, and raised $6K for the cause. The energy, encouragement and inspiration from my fellow campers who helped me "prepare" was wonderful. And, the camaraderie I get from my St. Helena campers today is an important part of my life.
As you know, I would not be coming to camp if it were not for Carlos, our St. Helena instructor. His encouragement, dedication, spirit, knowledge, drive and cheerfulness are a huge part of what makes this program work. He is the Camper of the Day, every day we meet!
I want to hurry and finish this note to you so that I can head up Oat Hill, my favorite 10-mile hike with a 2000 ft climb!!
Thank you, Jeff and Tiffany--this program means so much to me, and you have touched me beyond belief!

Carrie Gunderson
Napa 9 am
Here is what Carrie had to say: Boot camp has changed my life. I've never thought of myself as fit or an exerciser and now I am totally addicted and can't imagine a life without boot camp. I love boot camp because I never get bored, am always improving and learning something new and am always aware of the support and encouragement of Jeff and my fellow boot campers. Boot camp has taught me that I can do things that I never thought that I could like box jumps and jump roping 25, 50 or more times without stopping! Because of my increased fitness and Jeff's belief that I could I ran a 20K trail run in Dec. 2007 less than a year after the birth of my son at 45 years of age. I had never run for fun, exercise or for a race prior to boot camp. I have also started my own business, FitBody Foods, with the support and encouragement of Jeff and Tiffany. In short, I love boot camp and what it has done for me physically and mentally.

Gaby Avina
Napa
We chose Gaby this week for many reasons. She has made such great progress in camp due to her dedication to attending class everyday and diligence with her nutrition. She has a burning desire to achieve her goals and it shows in her success!
Gaby is the mother of three year old twin boys Jared and Lucas, which would keep her busy enough except that she also hasa full time job as an Assistant Chief with CAL FIRE. Her husband Chris (also an avid boot camper) also works for CAL FIRE. They both work really hard so that they can spend their time off with the boys and squeeze in family vacations to warm sunny climates whenever possible....
Here is what Gaby had to say:
I started coming to boot camp the end of March 2008 because my kids were about to turn three and I had not lost any of the weight I gained during my pregnancy. Don't get me wrong I have struggled with my weight my entire life but it was a battle I had more energy and time to commit to before having kids. I had spent the last three years of my life trying to balance my family and my career and failing miserably at trying to eat right and exercise. I felt too busy to make my weight/health a priority and I didn't want to take anymore time away from my family because I already had a demanding job that had me away from home more than I wanted to be.
I committed to boot camp the first month because I was willing to admit that what I was doing was not working. I starting seeing results almost immediately so I went to camp every day, and I followed the nutrition advice that Jeff and Tiffany provided. Since April I have lost 56 pounds and gone from a size 24 to a size 16. I still have weight to lose but I am happier, healthier and more fit than I have been in years. I look forward every morning to getting up before the crack of dawn and getting my workout done before my day gets too busy and before there are too many demands on my time. And of course I look forward to having someone train me through a new and different workout everyday and push me on those mornings when I need pushing....
CONGRATULATIONS Gaby! You are amazing!

"I just wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" for having such an incredible program. I will not be able to join you for a while as I am going in for heart surgery on Jan 2nd. They are removing/fixing my pacemaker/defibrillator wires and adding another one. Then I will be in cardiac rehab for six months (treadmills in a room with no windows, how boring!) I wanted to express how much I appreciate your program. It has helped me restore my health immensely in the last six months since I have been attending. My goals were to get a good exercise routine, get energy and, of course, loose weight. I have achieved all of these. I am most grateful for having more energy throughout my day. This has really improved my quality of life. With the condition I have, cardiomyopathy and an irregular heartbeat, it is a constant struggle against fatigue and your program has helped me have energy all day long and even in the evenings! It is worth getting up at 4:45 a.m. for!!!! (I have never been a morning person). Also, I feel stronger than I've felt in a long, long time. Thanks so much for your guidance, support and encouragement. Thanks also for your commitment to every participant. We are so lucky to have you offering this class in Sonoma."
Sincerely,
Renee Caruso - Sonoma class
"I use to hate mornings and exercise. I can now say that is part of my past!! I have already felt myself get stronger and more fit, all my expectations have been filled! Loved it all, this has been the single best thing I have ever done for myself. "
Shaina, 36 - American Canyon
"Here's a HUGE Thank you for the awesome training you provide. My body has changed so much since I started working out with you. I was totally out of shape and getting worse by the day; my back was bad and the pain stopped me from doing much of anything. I had the body of an old lady and couldn't see the way out . . . but then you came along and slowly taught me how to get strong and fit again. It's been quite an exciting and rewarding experience. Your extensive knowledge and unique training methods are a one-of-a-kind combination. I am so fortunate to be in your program; I actually love to work out!
I must also mention that I truly enjoy the friendships I form with the great women at boot camp . . . I am simply hooked! And I'm not the only one; it's amazing how many women feel the same way. In a nutshell, your program ROCKS! Thank you so much for all you do."
Selwa (a.k.a. Coach) - Boot Camper For Life!
"Napa Valley Adventure Boot Camp is phenomenal. I'm especially pleased with your focus on proper form and technique for the exercises and weight lifting. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I feel secure knowing my patients in the boot camp have a better chance of succeeding with your program and less chance of injuring themselves in their efforts to improve their health. Working out in the park at sunrise, with great music and fun companions gives my day a special start! My clothes fit better and I have more energy throughout the day!"
Thanks!
